Santa Barbara PACE Financing
We’re workin’ on it! Santa Barbara is in the process of implementing a property tax solar financing program.
On June 23, 2009, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to work on a county-wide Energy Efficiency Improvement Financing Program, which would finance the installation of roof top and free-standing solar systems through property taxes. The next step involves analyzing the feasibility of implementation and mapping out program details.
That sounds great! How is Santa Barbara able to do this?
Santa Barbara’s program is made possible thanks to California’s AB811 law, which allows loan programs to pay back investments in renewable energy systems through property tax payments.
When Will the Program Start?
Program details are just now being worked out, and staff will present the analytical findings to the Board at the end of July (2009). We’ll keep you posted!
